13 years ago, Clifton Park was suffering like any other park across the country due to the lack of available funding. The park was tired and needed some tender loving care. In particular, the amusements facilities operated by Rotherham Borough Council were old and unreliable, and expensive to run.
The Council sought a partner with the necessary expertise and resources to breathe new life into these facilities, and consequently Greenspace were invited to rejuvenate and operate them.
Since then, Greenspace have invested over £1m in new facilities, while the Council has secured substantial funding, including a £4.5m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Parks for People’ programme for the refurbishment and regeneration of this attractive and historical park. The expanded and improved amusements are now a major attraction, helping Clifton Park to achieve more than 1.3m visits a year.
Greenspace in partnership with the Council also runs and hosts a number of seasonal events including a "Halloween Spectacular" which have helped to make Clifton Park an iconic venue.
